Binance, the leading cryptocurrency exchange in terms of trading volume, declared its intention to eliminate four digital assets – BTS, PERL, TORN, and WTC – from its platform on Thursday, December 7, 2023. In a blog post, the prominent crypto exchange stated that this delisting initiative is a routine part of its comprehensive review process, ensuring that tokens listed on the platform consistently meet the necessary standards.
Binance explained that when a coin or token falls short of the required standards or if there are shifts in the industry landscape, it initiates a thorough evaluation that may lead to delisting, and prioritizing user protection.
The exchange elaborated on several factors influencing the decision to retain or remove listed digital assets, encompassing the team’s dedication to the project, the level and quality of development activity, trading volume and liquidity, network stability and resistance to attacks, and the stability of the project’s network and smart contracts.
Additionally, Binance emphasized considering a project’s communication practices, responsiveness to periodic due diligence requests, evidence of unethical behavior or negligence, and the project’s contribution to fostering a robust and sustainable crypto ecosystem before finalizing a delisting decision.
In its announcement, Binance specified the delisting and cessation of trading for BitShares (BTS), PERL.eco (PERL), Tornado Cash (TORN), and Waltonchain (WTC). It clarified that the removed trading pairs would include BTS/USDT, PERL/USDT, TORN/BUSD, WTC/BTC, and WTC/USDT.
To manage the process seamlessly, Binance informed users that all trade orders in each trading pair would be automatically removed after trading concludes on December 7. Users were advised to ensure they hadn’t selected “Hide Small Balances” in their wallets if they wished to view their assets post-trading cessation.
